London Fire Brigade fire safety

It is important that as either a tenant or landlord you know how to reduce the chances of a fire starting in your home and how to keep yourself or your tenants safe.

Know the plan

Whether you are a landlord or tenant, take the time to know how to plan for an emergency.

Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms Toggle accordion

Private sector landlords are required from 1 October 2015 to have a least one smoke alarm installed on every storey of their properties and to install a carbon monoxide alarm in any room containing a solid fuel burning appliance. These requirements are from The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015.

Barking and Dagenham landlords are eligible for up to two free smoke alarms for each property licensed in the borough.

Complete the request form and bring it to the next landlord forum to collect your alarms.
